Established in 1983, the Department of Chemistry at our college has grown significantly over the years, with honours courses introduced in 2003. Today, the department serves more than 30 students from both honours and general streams. Our team comprises five dedicated faculty members and one lab attendant, all committed to providing an accessible and engaging education through the integration of ICT in teaching and learning, wherever feasible.Our faculty members are actively involved in diverse research fields, continuously striving to enhance academic excellence and foster creativity through various teaching, research, and extension activities. Students are the cornerstone of our department, and their enthusiasm and accomplishments inspire us daily. They take an active role in organizing and participating in outreach initiatives, cultural programs, and other enriching events, which create a vibrant and supportive learning environment. We are proud to offer a specialized certificate course, Add-on Course: Hands-On In-Laboratory Training for Preparation of Household Chemicals, where students gain practical, industry-relevant skills. The participation and enthusiasm from students in all our activities is truly remarkable. Looking ahead, we are excited about the possibility of introducing postgraduate courses in Chemistry, subject to future developments and approvals.
