Narajole Raj College, one of the oldest colleges in old Medinipur district, established in September, 1966, is a wonderful phenomenon in the educational scenario of Midnapore district. At a time when the darkness was prevailing all around and ignorance was rampant in the region, the Narajole Raj College appeared with a bacom of learning in the society. It ushered a new path of higher education. It fulfilled the long cherished dreams and necessities of the young generation. The higher secondary course in science with subjects’ combination of physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics was first introduced in 1979. After that, the undergraduate pass course level in pure science with subject combination Physics, chemistry and mathematics was introduced in 1983. The Physics (Honours) course was first introduced in 2007. At first, the course was taught at old building i.e., “RAJ BHAWAN” and now at new building from December 2012, onwards. Side by side with the traditional Honours Course like English, Bengali, History, Phisosophy, Political Science, Chemistry, Botany, Mathematics, a new feather has been added to the teaching courses by introducing Physics as Honours Subject. From December, 2012 onwards the Department of Physics has given the status of an independent practical examination center of Vidyasagar University. At present the charge of the department is entrusted to Dr. Tapanendu Kamilya, Assistant Prof. of Physics. From, 2014, a NANOPARTICLE SYNTHESIS RESEARCH LABORATORY was established in the Department of Physics. SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE was established in 2016. In fine, we are sure, despite certain infrastructural inadequacies of our PHYSICS DEPARTMENT, we have our guts as well as parts to let the DEPARTMENT go on ahead to fulfill our long cherished desire, provided we are enriched, empowered and invigorated with kind Co – operation and inspiration in all respects from the part of our honourable higher authoritiy i.e, U.G.C. Let us, therefore, hope for the best keeping this hard mission in mind.
