History of the Department - 1966

The Department of Political Science is as old as Narajole Raj College.Since the establishment of the college in 1966, the Department of Political Science has been a part of it. In the beginning , the Dept. offered the General course only but it was upgraded with Honours course in the year 2002. So far eminent teachers like Prof. Prithwish Dutta, Prof. Shaktipada Pal, Prof. Rajkumar Ganguli, Prof. Subrata Chowdhury and Prof. Bhagbat Chandra Nandi served the department as Full Time Teachers. Besides, assistance from Sri Kalyanashis Bhattacharya, Sri Anindya Sundar Poria, Smt. Monika Satpoti, Smt. Papia Poria guest teachers of the department, in running the department worth mentioning. At present with four faculty members, Dr. Rajasree Debnath, Associate Professor, Mr. Barun Rout and Mr. Mr. Prasenjit Senapoti  , both SACT and  Mr. Supen Sarkar, Assistant Professor and more than 200 students, Dept. of Political Science is one of the leading departments of the college. The department is not limited in regular activities only but extends its service through conducting the Foundation Course in Human Rights Education since 2011-12. So far 469 students completed the course successfully and received certificates. Another important activity of the department is participation in the Youth Parliament Competition. Every year , Dept. of Political Science takes part in the youth parliament competition organized by the Dept. of Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal. Teachers of the Department select and train the students for the competition. In 2012, our college became the District Champion in the youth parliament Compitition and own 2nd prize in 2014 and 3rd prize in 2017.
