Narajole Raj College, one of the oldest colleges in old Medinipur district, established in September, 1966, is a wonderful phenomenon in the educational scenario of Midnapore district. At a time when the darkness was prevailing all around and ignorance was rampant in the region, the Narajole Raj College appeared with a beacon of learning in the society. It ushered a new path of higher education fulfilling long cherished aspirants and necessities of the young generation.
Department of Bengali, is one of the oldest departments of the college. The higher secondary course first introduced in 1966; along with the undergraduate pass course level in Bengali. The Honours course in Bengali was first broached in 1991. Initially, the course was taught at old building i.e., “RAJ BHAWAN”, presently at new building from the year 2006. Additionally, the college introduced post graduate course in Bengali from the session 2016-17.
To create employability among the student’s, the department offers different skill – based courses i.e. Creative writing, Functional Bengali as Value added and add – on courses which are accompanied with internship.
The Department is dedicated to helping its students become not only accomplished scholars but also responsible citizens of our nation.
Dr. Nilanjana Bhattacharyya currently acts as the Head of the department and present PG Co Ordinator is Dr. Dipak Shom.
